Opera: Porsile: Spartaco
The slave revolt led by gladiator Spartaco against the Roman Empire has never ceased to fascinate and intrigue generations of authors and artists. In this opera from 1726, the Neapolitan composer Porsile offers a striking take on the story of Spartacus which is unique for its time.
Martin Wåhlberg, Orkester Nord and an amazing cast of first-class singers brings the story to life, headed by the outstanding young Italian Luigi Morassi as Spartaco, a role specially written for Handel’s star tenor Borosini.
