Revolution!

The French Revolution spurred a genuine explosion of musical invention. But how did it resound outside Paris? For the closing concert of this year’s edition of Barokkfest, Martin Wåhlberg and Orkester Nord take us on a journey through the world-wide radiation of the French Revolution.

The breath-taking young soprano Francina Nogue impersonates Minette, the eighteenth-century Caribbean star singer who was a sensation at the opulent stages of Saint-Domingue, today’s Haiti. One of the major pianists of our time, Olga Paschenko performs Steibelt’s incredible piano concertos. Orkester Nord performs Beethoven’s most revolutionary symphony, the Eroica.
