Traditionally the French horn was known primarily as an instrument used for signals during hunting. Towards the end of the Eighteenth Century, however, the horn was considered as a most exquisite instrument, because more than any other, it could imitate the beauty of the human voice.
Performed by some of Scandinavia’s foremost specialists in the classical repertoire, this concert unveils the splendors of the works written for the French horn in the years that followed the French Revolution, alongside vocal romances from the same period.
