Bach’s Cello Suites with Giuliano Carmignola!

The Italian master violinist Giuliano Carmignola melted the hearts of Barokkfest’s audience a couple of years ago with Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons”, performed together with the Venice Baroque Orchestra. Now he honors the other composer who has been closest to him: Johann Sebastian Bach. Carmignola is world-renowned for his remarkable recordings of Bach’s works for solo violin. After performing all of Bach’s violin music, in his latest solo project he turns to the famous cello suites, perhaps one of the most famous classical works ever written.

Carmignola’s recording of Bach’s suites for solo cello has been named by the British magazine Grammophone as “the premier performance of Bach’s cello suites on violin”. The generous and beautiful acoustics in Vår Frue Kirke suits Bach’s solo music particularly well.
