The Roman Triumph
Meet Ida Östenberg, historian at the Universities of Gothenburg and Uppsala. She is the author of the book Staging the World on Oxford University Press, and an internationally renowned expert on state propaganda in the Roman empire. Romas warlords let themselves be celebrated with so-called triumphs, that is, enormous processions upon their return home. How did they look? and what did they mean? Österberg gives us fascinating answers.
